Mrs. Rosella Jones Deriso 89 passed away Sunday morning July 20, 2014 at the Mattie H. Marshall Alzheimer's Unit at Magnolia Manor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning July 22, 2014 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services Rev. Robert Orr will officiate burial will follow at Leslie City Cemetery in Leslie, Ga. Music provided by: Mrs. Neal Futch and Mrs. Wynona Jones. Active pallbearers will be Tad, Micah, and David Deriso and Jayson Everett and nephews: Billy Deriso and Michael Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Mattie H. Marshall Alzheimer's Unit of Magnolia Manor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning July 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Deriso was born November 2, 1924 in Ft. Collins, Col. The daughter of the late Arthur William Jones and Magnolia Rice Jones. She was the 5th of 12 children. She graduated from Ft. Collins High School. Met and married Grover C. (G.C.) Deriso, Jr. from Leslie, Ga. While she was working at the Ft. Warren Army Base canteen and he was stationed at Ft. Warren, Wyoming. They moved to Georgia where she worked for Manhattan Shirt Company before going back to school to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse in the fall of 1957. She graduated from Georgia South Western College in 1960 with an Associate Arts Degree and made the highest score in the State of Georgia on the nursing board that year. She went on to earn her B.S. degree from Georgia State in Atlanta and Masters Degree in Nursing from the Medical College in Augusta. She was Dean of Nursing for several years at Georgia Southwestern College until her retirement in 1987. She also was appointed to serve on the Georgia State Board of Nursing by then Governor Jimmy Carter. After retirement she enjoyed traveling. Her Margie Ann Deriso Everett (Jake) of Preston, Ga. Five family will always be proud of the woman she was and the values she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Deriso is survived by daughter and son-in-law; Grandchildren; Tad and Emily Deriso of Richmond, VA; Micah and Nicole Deriso of Woodstock, Ga.; Natalie and Bill Murphy from Alpharetta, Ga.; David Deriso of San Francisco, CA.; and, Jayson and Linda Everett of Preston, Ga. Six Great Grandchildren; Sara and Kate Deriso of Richmond, VA.; Hunter, Macy and Harris Deriso of Woodstock, Ga.; and, Gavin, Owen, and Caden Murphy of Alpharetta, Ga. Two daughters-in-law; Bonnie Deriso and Susan Deriso both of Marietta, Ga. and one sister Dora Berry of Ft. Collins, CO. and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover Deriso, her sons, Jerry and Tom Deriso and her granddaughter Rose Ann Everett, six sisters, and four brothers.
