Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Toby Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Clyde Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.
Mrs. Anderson was born December 13, 1927 in Haskell, Texas to Robert (Bob) and Ucla Ruth (Willis) Woods.
She was the granddaughter of Rev. George L. Willis.
They moved to Albany where she went to school, where she was pitcher on the softball team and graduated from Albany High School.
In 1946 she married Diamond H. Anderson in Albany. Together they raised six children.
Later the family moved to Hamlin then Clyde where she worked at Huskins Store, Stella's and BBB Drug.
Ruth moved to Abilene and worked at Super Duper and United Grocery Stores.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by one son, Jerry Anderson and wife Susan of Clyde; five daughters, Dianna Anderson of Arlington, Polly Chittum of Abilene, Judy Fisher of Yuma, Arizona, Linda Stewart of Ft. Worth and Betty Ruth Hawthorne and husband Ron of Ozona; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children's father Diamond Anderson, two brothers Jack and Bobby Gene and one sister Billie Lois Murphy.
