Lawrence B. Becvar
July 3, 1942 - July 19, 2014
With mixed sorrow and joy, we announce that our husband and father, Lawrence Boyd Becvar, 72, completed his mortal mission on 19 July 2014, at his home in Pocatello, Idaho. He joins his first wife, Jacklyn "Jackie" Joyce (Seaman); mother, Helen (Belnap) Michaels; stepfathers; and grandparents.
Lawrence left behind, for a short time in an eternal perspective, his second wife, Julia Ann (French); daughter, Teresa Nielsen (Jeff Nielsen); three sons, Lawrence, Jr., Timothy, and Patrick; and three step-children, Lawrence, William, and Margaret Rogers.
Lawrence was born July 3, 1942, in Boise, Ada, Idaho. He spent most of his youth in the Blackfoot area, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1961. From there, he served a mission for the LDS church for two years in the Great Lakes region. After this mission, he served in the military for over 13 years. Later, Lawrence worked for the United States Postal Service in Provo, Utah. Upon retirement, he returned to Pocatello to care for his mother after her near-fatal stroke.
Lawrence faithfully served the Lord through various positions that he held in the LDS church. He loved his immediate and extended family without reservation, and enjoyed very much the time he spent with his children; his brother, Jonnie Hurt, and sister, Janey Flowers. In his younger adulthood, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, square-dancing, family reunions, and driving just about anywhere.
We will miss our husband and father, but know we will one day meet, again.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:00 am, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho. 208-233-1500, with Military Honors. Following, Lawrence will be buried in the Moreland Cemetery. Finally, we would like to invite Larry's friends, family, and acquaintances to join us at 3:00 pm, after the burial, for a Celebration of Life, at the St. Anthony Place Chapel, 650 North 7th Ave, Pocatello, ID. 83201
A second memorial will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the LDS Church on 1745 South State Street, Provo, UT. 84606.
