Donald "Dusty" James De Pree, 51, died Friday, July 23, from cancer.

There will be a celebration of his life at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at the family's lake home at 262 Shorewood Drive in Detroit Lakes. Donald De Pree, son of Donald and Florence De Pree, was born at Le Mars, IA., on March 5, 1948, and moved to Detroit Lakes at an early age.

He and Becky Johnk were married in September, 1968.

Self-employed as an independent contractor to American Business Forms for more than 19 years, Mr. De Pree was recognized as Sales Professional of the Year in 1996 by the trade magazine, Business Forms Labels & Systems. He belonged to The American Legion, Elks, and Eagles and enjoyed golf, hunting, snowmobiling and fishing.

Surviving are his wife - Becky; a son - Mike (Kristen), Moorhead; a daughter - Kimberly, Moorhead, and a sister - Meredith, Moorehead."

Dusty was a very unique and exceptional individual who had a tremendous zest for living and enjoying life. He touched so many with his warm and generous heart. Dusty was an enthusiastic golfer, hunter, snowmobiler, sportsfisherman, and all-around adventurer. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, and Elks clubs. Dusty was self-employed as an independent contractor to American Business Forms for over 19 years and was recognized in 1996 in the Business Forms Labels & Systems trade magazine as Sales Professional of the Year.

Dusty was born March 5th, 1948 in Le Mars, IA to Donald and Florence DePree and at an early age moved to Detroit Lakes, MN where he was raised. He married Becky (Johnk) in September 1968 and they spent 31 wonderful years together, living in Detroit Lakes, Willmar, and Moorhead, MN. Together they raised two beautiful children, Mike (Kristen) and Kimberly, both of Moorhead. His sister Meredith also survives him, also of Moorhead. Dusty will be dearly missed by his family, his friends, and his colleagues as he truly was a dedicated and wonderful husband, father, friend, and mentor.
