Alvia "Alvie" Hitesman , 63, of 912 Sumner Ave. died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 1991, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
Born Oct. 4, 1927, in Valparaiso, Ind., to David and Mary Berman Hitesman , he married Virginia Mace on Oct. 15,1950, in Val paraiso.
She survives, along with three sons, Delbert , Albert and David, and two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Emma "Jane") Bowers and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Chaney, all of Peoria; 14 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; one brother, Robert of San Francisco; and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy) Detellem of Peoria and Deloris Ludlow of Temperance, Mich. He was preceded in death by one grandson.
He was a truck driver, last working in January 1969. He was a member of Teamsters Local 627, Moose Lodge 1220 in Peoria, American Legion Post 2 and Disabled American Veterans Post 1. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Western Chapel. The Rev. Mark Henninger will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
