HARRY R. PIERCE
Harry R. Pierce, 79, RFD 3, died Tuesday at Porter Memorial hospital after a lingering illness.
A lifelong resident of Porter county, he was born Sept. 16, 1889, a son of William and Mary (Findling) Pierce. On Nov. 8, 1914 in Valparaiso, he married Minta R. Stansberry, who preceded him in death in October of 1962.
He was a retired molder of the former Continental Diamond Fibre company and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are two son, Oliver of Tucson and Kenneth of Gary; three daughters, Mrs. William (Joy) Brown, Mrs. Murray (LaVerne) Beach and Mrs. Carroll (Charlotte) Wray, a brother, Arthur, and a sister, Mrs. Geneva Schneider, all of Valparaiso; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. George Scutt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wetmore Funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday.
