Lillian "Mur" Turbyfill Drum, 102, of Longview, where she was a longtime resident, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice.

Born June 4, 1912 in Spruce Pine, NC, she was the daughter of the late Calhoun Smith and Josephine Tolley Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Ed Turbyfill; second husband, Harold Thomas Drum; son, Robert Dean Turbyfill; four sisters: Locky Smith Bartlett, Nellie Mabel Smith Autrey, Kate S. Cox, Lucy S. Duncan; four brothers: Will Smith, Geter Smith, Todd Smith and Nelson Smith.

Mrs. Drum was a longtime member of Penelope Baptist Church and had retired from Johnson Hosiery Mill. She was a very active, loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, camping, and crafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen T. King of Hickory, NC; daughter-in-law, Pat Turbyfill of Winter Haven, FL; step-children: Gary Drum of Hickory, NC, Larry Drum of Newton, NC, Brenda Bolick of Conover, NC; grandchildren: Jamee King Pangburn and husband Robert of Ft. Mill, SC, Sabrina Turbyfill and Mike Schultz of Winter Haven, FL, Steve King of Hickory, NC, Sandy Turbyfill Reeves and husband Ryan of Auburndale, FL; great-grandchildren: Justin Butler and wife Christian of Kingsport, TN, Desiree Morris and husband Billy, and McKenzie Butler all of Winter Haven, FL, David Feeley of Ft. Mill, SC, Paige Reeves, Taylor Reeves, and Kyle Reeves all of Auburndale, FL; and great-great grandchildren: Miranda Butler, Lillian Butler and Harley Morris.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Penelope Baptist Church with the Rev. Nicholas King officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory.
