Providence M. Currey was the youngest of ten children born to Hiram Myrick Currey Sr. and Sarah (Reagan) Currey.

Povoidence's Oregon Donation Land Claim (No.2572)indicates that he was born in 1800 in Mason Co., Kentucky. The claim lists his name as Providenze M. Currey.

Providence M Currey and Amanda Hill obtained a marriage license in Montqomery Co., Indiana, on July 13, 1826. The marriage was officiated by John Lee and recorded on August 18, 1826.

Providence M. Currey was an attorney, and he was supposedly the only attorney in Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., Indiana, from 1824-1825. He was the lawyer, Called "Prov," that could be consulted informally while he was helping a neighbor cut a cord of wood.

Burial: Grandview Cemetery - La Grande, OR.
He was buried in the old IOOF cemetery. It was abandoned in 1920s for site of Eastern Oregon State College (EOSC).
Most graves were not moved. People walking across campus of EOSC are not aware they are crossing the old IOOF cemetery. A marker was Placed at Grandview Cemetery.

His son's George Byron Currey and William Thomas Currey (Thomas Williamson Currey) where buried at Old IOOF Cemetery beside there father Providence M. Currey. Markers were placed at Grandview Cemetery for them also.
