Ollie attended Bettis Academy, which was founded in 1881 by her Uncle Alexander Bettis. He was an African-American minister who founded over forty Baptist Churches, and established schools. Biddle Hall is one of the renovated buildings of Bettis Academy. Ollie's son Alvin Stevens Jr. is one of those instrumental in its renovation. On exhibition in Biddle Hall are potraits, books and memorabilla from the Bettis Academy era. She also was a gifted, and sought after Beautician in her community.
