Edith Mae Hartzler, 98, of Eureka died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Maple Lawn Care Center in Eureka.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1915, in Roanoke, a daughter of Peter R. and Anna Schertz. She married John D. Hartzler in Metamora on Dec. 3, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Surviving are her children, Janice (Warren) Lambright of Spring Hill, Tenn., Jon (Sue) Hartzler of Midlothian, Va., James Hartzler of River Forest, Ill., and Jay (Sheri) Hartzler of Harrisonburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Laverne Brunk, and a daughter-in-law, Joan Hartzler.
Edith graduated from Metamora High School and attended Goshen College in Goshen, Ind. She then graduated from Methodist College of Nursing.
She was a registered nurse for most of her life and was past director of nursing for Maple Lawn Homes for over 14 years.
She was a member of the Woodford County Home Extension, and also participated in the Retired Senior Living Program.
Private graveside services will be at Roanoke Mennonite Cemetery in Roanoke.
