Born in Metamora, Ill., on July 17, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Peter R. and Anna L. Schertz.
She grew up in Illinois and attended Goshen College in Indiana, and then taught elementary school for many years. She moved to Frederick in 1935 with her then husband, Niemann, where they started Frederick Produce Co.
Mrs. Brunk was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, where she was involved with Sunday school, the church choir and served the church as a deaconess. She was also a member of the Frederick Zonta Club, Braddock Homemakers Club and many other civic groups. She was a volunteer at Daybreak Adult Day Services in Frederick.
Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara A. Moser and husband, Greg, of Gettysburg, Pa., and Karen B. Cripe and husband, Bernard, of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Edith Hartzler, of Eureka, Ill.; six grandchildren*, six great-grandchildren*, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, from the First Baptist Church on Bowers Road. The Rev. Dr. Larry L. Eubanks, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Burnis D. Barrett, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Pallbearers will be Charles Coblentz, Michael Coblentz, Robert Coblentz, Timothy Cripe, Scott Brunk, Charles Billups and Greg L. Moser II.
