Obituary June 1979
Albion-- Louis L. Vanderheiden, 90, of Aurora, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday at an Aurora hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Robert Nienaber will officiate. (Further funeral arrangements omitted here.)

Mr. Vanderheiden was born May 28, 1889, at Center to Lambert and Hendricka Sanders Vanderheiden. He married Josephine Hildegard Savage on June 14, 1911, at Tarnov, Neb. At the age of 18, he moved to Humphrey where he worked in a mill. In 1925, he moved to Cedar Rapids where he owned and operated the grain elevator. In 1953, he retired and moved to Grand Island. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Lawrence of Aurora and James of Haywood, Ca., three daughters, Dorothy Denn of Driftwood, Texas, Adelaide Trelstad of Salem, Ore., and Marita Curnyn of Omaha, one sister, Ann VanErt of Norfolk, 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
