She was born December 12, 1917 in New Britain to the late Nicodemus "Mike" and Elizabeth (Tomalonas) Michaels.
Josephine wanted no accolades, embellishments, and superlatives in describing her life. She just wanted to be remembered as a good mother, grandmother, and health provider to both parents.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward W., and daughter, Nancy C. Toennies. She leaves her son, Gerald E. Pankonin; grandsons, Brett Pankonin and Craig Toennies; granddaughters, Amanda Toennies and Jane and Justin Sacco; and great-grandson, Samuel Sacco. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Helen O'Brien, Mary Sweeney, Ann Luke, Gloria Arcand, Eleanor Bergeron, and Elizabeth Michaels; and brothers, Michael Michaels and John Michaels.
No contributions to any charity in her name need to be made. She didn't feel anyone should feel burdened or obligated to do so. Provisions were made by her to her charities of choice.
The funeral was held at the convenience of the family.
