WOOD RIVER - Sarah F. Winterberg, 86, formerly of Granite City, passed away 11:40 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2014, at VIP Manor in Wood River.
Born May 2, 1928, in Phillips Camp, Ill., she was the daughter of Harry S. and Marie (Gray) Adkins.
She married George F. Winterberg, Sr. on Oct. 25, 1950, in East St. Louis. He died Aug. 18, 2010.
Surviving are a son, George F., Jr. (Crystal) Winterberg of Wood River; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Ben Winterberg; and two brothers, Gary Adkins and John Adkins.
Her parents; husband; son, Michael Manes; daughter, Eddra Monroe; six brothers, Hirchel, Leo, Dave, Ansel, Bud and Vernon Adkins; and a sister, Junie Adkins preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Hospital Hospice Program.
