On July 4, 2014, our mom, once again claimed her independence. She died peacefully at her home.

She returned to our Heavenly Father with her head held high. She was able to tell him that she had done her BEST! On her resume', she was able to list her most amazing job titles: Mom, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Daughter, and Friend.

Jessie was born in Georgetown, Idaho to Levere and Carmen Smith on September 7, 1926.

She married Don F. Smith on April 18, 1941; later divorced; later sealed in the Mount Timpanogas Temple.

Her ENTIRE life was based on her family. ALL of her enjoyment in life came by way of her family. Her most cherished moments came when her entire family could get together and surround her.

Of all things in life, she wanted to be known as a woman who loved her family. She will be remembered for her AMAZING sense of humor. She made life easier for everyone because of it.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel.

She served in the Primary for twenty-five years. She held such callings as Primary President (three times) and served in Young Women's for about seven years. She worked for the LDS Church Distribution Center for seventeen years.

"Did you know John Candy died?"

She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Maxine (Alan) Laris, Julie (Bill) Stewart, and Jill (Brent) Hoskings; her grandchildren, Rickee, Brice, Joe, Nick, Jeremy, and Kayli; her perfect great-grandchildren, Alex Natalie, Kinlee, Boston, Jessica, Dannielle, Dax, Ramsey, Milo, and Nikki; and her brother, Jerry Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Levere Smith; her eternal companion, Don Smith; children, Allen and Penney; sisters, Wanda and Verna; and brother, Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
