Lt Col ROBERT GAY MCKENZIE, USAF Retired Bob McKenzie, 82, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Covenant Hospice in Panama City, FL. He was a native of Panama City and a graduate of Bay High, Class of 1948. He graduated from Florida State University 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and received a Master of Science Degree in Accounting from Southeastern University in 1976. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnamese wars. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, Panama City Amateur Radio Club, the Historical Society of Bay County, Military Officers Association of America, and Acme Lodge No.222 F&AM. After retiring as Lt. Colonel from the USAF, Bob worked as Audit Manager for the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington D.C. and later as Special Assistant for Evaluation for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) where he served as Special Assistant to the Inspector General. He was later general partner of his own consulting business, Computer Security Analysts (CSA). Bob returned to Panama City in 1992. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Paul McKenzie, Sr. and Vesta Gay McKenzie; his sister, Mary Gay McKenzie, his brothers Paul McKenzie, Jr. and Andrew McKenzie, Sr. and his wife Virginia. He is survived by his children, Bob McKenzie, Jr. and his wife Denise; Paula Patrick and her husband Bruce; Kathryn Fritz and her husband Mark; nine grand-children and nine great-grandchildren; his nieces, Mary Gay Sims and husband Charles; Virginia Ann Zimmerman and husband Nevin; and his nephew, Andy McKenzie, Jr. and wife Pam. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow with full military honors in Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests, that In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 615 North Bonita Ave., Panama City, FL, 32401 in memory of Bob McKenzie.
