Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the Foust Funeral Home.
Robert was born February 19, 1910, in Hamilton County, Iowa, west of Webster City, to Josiah and Sarah (Spangler) Williams. He attended rural schools in Hamilton and Wright Counties.
On June 4, 1933, Robert was united in marriage to Mildred Crovisier of Eagle Grove at the Stanhope Methodist Church parsonage. The couple made their home in Woolstock where their daughter Mary Jean was born. Robert was employed at the Williams Garage in Woolstock for many years with his brothers Lee and Archie.
Bob entered the United States Army on April 18, 1945, and served until August 9, 1946. After his discharge, he resumed working at the Williams Garage until his retirement. He helped Dale Blake with his farming operations for a number of years after retiring.
Bob was elected to the Woolstock City Council for four terms and was also honored with a plaque for his dedicated service as the Woolstock Fire Chief from 1930 to 1964. he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and carving wood link chains, a skill he learned from George Marshall.
Robert was baptized in and was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church and the Ban de la Roche Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred who died February 15, 1999, seven sisters: Alice Young, Rachel Harrison, Elizabeth Mills, Laura Richey, Luella Jotten, Gladyce Graham, and Elsa Coyle; and three brothers Ralph, Archie and Lee Williams.
Robert is survived by his daughter Mary Jean Ciemiewicz of Colorado Springs, CO, granddaughter Denise Chase and husband Harold of Atlantic, grandson Brett Davis of Colorado Springs, CO, three great-grandchildren, Henry, Charles Chase and Melissa Wheeler (Colby); sister Anna Orr of Eagle Grove; brother Albert Williams of Kansas City, MO, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
