Pilot Officer J BURY-BURZYMSKI VM escaped to Join the Royal Air Force.

Born 5 VII 1915, Minsk (Russia). XI promotion SPL.

In September 1939,Escaped through Romania to France.
29 February 1940 assigned to train to Toulouse, and on 13 April 1940 to Montpellier.
The fighting did not take part.
During the evacuation by air from North Africa to the lack of fuel splashed down about 500 meters from the shore by swimming and reached Algeria.
In July 1940 came to the UK. September 10, 1940 assigned to the 307 Sqd.
At his own request, October 2, 1940 he left the Air Force and after training daily at 5 OTU was October 11, 1940 assigned to 303 Sqd. He died 24 October 1940 in a plane crash (Hurricane I), Learner probably lost consciousness and did not come from a steep dive crashed near Bishop Burton M. Beverley (England). He was awarded the Military Virtue (12 050). Also shot down an observation balloon.

He joined 303 Squadron which was formed in July 1940 as a Polish Squadron at RAF Northolt with Hurricane Fighter Arcraft and they moved to Leconfield for Training on Oct 11th

PO Bury-Burzymski must have been their first causalty and as he was not operational he appears to have been denined the honour of a Battle of Britain Pilot.
