The Shelbyville Republican, Thursday, December 12, 1872, Another Old Pioneer Gone. Catherine Brothers was born November 25, 1790 in Maryland, the daughter of John and Mary Polly (Hedges)Brothers. On March 14, 1811, she married William Goodrich. Catherine and William had at least 10 children together. William died November 8, 1837 in Shelby Co., Indiana. Catherine remarried on February 11, 1840 in Shelby Co., Indiana to John C. Sleeth. Died at the residence of James Sykes, in this City, on Sunday afternoon December 8th, Catherine Sleeth. The deceased was over 82 years of age, and has been a resident of this city ever since 1820 and a consistent member of the Methodist Church for upwards of 70 years. She was buried in the City Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The friends of the deceased desire us to tender to the citizens of Shelbyville their sincere thanks for theie kind sympathy and large attendance at the funeral ceremony.
