Earlene Davis Willette of Mill Valley, CA died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the age of 90, from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Earlene had a long, full life as a mother of six, a wife of 50 years, a civil servant with the Air Force for 39 years, a well-traveled retiree and a senior who believed in self-determination. She was born in Mooresville, married in 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Allan Willette, resided with her family in Maryland (where she worked at Andrews AFB), Florida (Homestead AFB) and California (McClellan AFB), and moved with Allan to Hawaii (Hickam AFB) until she retired, then back to Florida. When Allan died in 1995, Earlene stayed in Florida for a while, during which time she was successfully treated for cancer. In 2002 she moved to Asheboro to be near her sister and brothers. In 2010, she moved to Mill Valley, Calif. to be near her children. She lived at The Redwoods for almost four years, until her death. She is survived by five children, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; daughter Mary Jo; and brothers, Harold and JB Davis.
