NEW LONDON — Marlene K. Evener, 49, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, at Lorain Community Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born Aug. 13, 1948, in Hazard, Ky. She had lived in Lorain, Vermilion and New London since 1979.
She worked at Kent Sporting Goods in New London until 1985. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Chuck Evener; a daughter, Pam Hoffman of New London; a son, Jeff Evener of New London; three grandchildren; her mother, Dorsie Decker of Monticello, Ky.; two sisters, Lois Jones of Sterns, Ky. and Evelyn Corder of Vermilion; four brothers, Eugene Decker and Kenneth, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Tom Decker of Vermilion and Donald Decker of Monticello, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her father, Conrad Decker, in 1967, and a brother, Clyde Decker, in 1989.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Mott, pastor of the New London First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Grove Street Cemetery in New London.
