Rev. Dr. Henry Winters Luce, a native of this city was prominent in activities of the Second Presbyterian Church. In 1897, Mrs. Luce and her husband went to China and remained there 25 years as missionaries and educators. Their mission was sponsored by the Second Presbyterian Church.
