Elsie Ellen Hopper, daughter of George Barnhart and Mary Deischer Barnhart, was born November 25, 1892 in Edwards Co. and died May 4, 1984 at Richland Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years.

She was married to Arthur Hopper and he passed away August 2, 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Violet) Thompson of Shumway, Ill. and Mrs. Catherine Hill of Champaign, Ill.; 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Wiseman and Flora Parks both of West Salem.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, two brothers, Wilbur and Henry Barnhart, two sisters, Nellie Luthe and Eliza Atterberry; three half-sisters, Mrs. Lora Mull, Mrs. Mary Luthe, and Mrs. Dollie Harris.

Elsie Hopper was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem.

Funeral services were held Sun., May 6 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, with Rev. Chris Tate officiating, and burial in Little Wabash Cemetery.
