Raymond "Zam" Floyd Losh, 65, of Bena, passed away in the Evergreen Terrace Healthcare Community at Grand Rapids, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He was born in Cass Lake on December 11, 1948 the son of Charles and Irene (Johnson) Losh.

Zam grew up in the Bena area and entered the Army after school. He along with three of his brothers served in the Viet Nam War. The Losh family was one of the lucky families to have all four boys come back from the war. Zam lived in Bena for 65 years where he raised two boys Carl and Warren. He loved to deer hunt, go ricing, trapping, netting, camping, and spending time at pow-wows with his brother Bobby. Zam and his granddaughter Shyanne spent lots of time together riding the 4-wheeler and he loved taking rides out in the woods. In his later years he really enjoyed taking his dog Daisy to the DQ in Cass Lake to get plain burgers. Zam was always there to help anyone who needed him with whatever was asked of him.


Zam was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Irene, grandparents, sisters; Leota "Mickey" and Gloria, nephew; Darrin, numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his 2 sons; 5 brothers; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

A wake service for Zam will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 all at the Bena Community Center. Father George Ross will officiate. Ojibwe Hymn Singers and the Young Sunrisers Drum group will provide music. Pallbearers for Zam will be Kevin Losh, Eric White, Tyler Losh, Duane Losh, Loren Losh and Donnie Losh. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl White, Sr., Warren White, Shyanne White, Carl White, Jr., Stephen White and Vanessa White. Interment will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery at Bena.

Zam's care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN.
