Green Rives II was a son of Green Rives I and Mary Ridley Jones and grandson of William Rives & Lucy Wyche Rives and Darling and Susannah Jones. Green II married Jerusha May Paisley on 26 October 1815 in Richland District, South Carolina. They were the parents of at least 13 children of which 11 reached adulthood. The two that did not were Sarah Caroline Rives, born 6 February, 1822, died 2 Apr 1824 in Richland District, South Carolina and Eliza Paisley Rives, born 29 Oct 1831, died 19 Apr 1838 in Lowndes County, Alabama.
