Charles R. "Chug" Keefer, 87, of McConnellsburg, PA, died Thursday, June 26th, 2014 at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Charles was born in McConnellsburg, PA on April 7, 1927, the son of the late Jesse (Mellott) and Thomas Keefer. He was the widower of Anna L. (Stoner) Keefer, whom he married in 1982. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2013.
He served in the US Army and was a farmer in his earlier years. He also worked for Grove Manufacturing in Greencastle, PA before retiring in 1989. Charley was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.
He is survived by his four daughters, Teresa A. (wife of Clyde) Flagle of Ft. Loudon, PA, Martha R. (wife of Jeffrey) Statler of Chambersburg, PA, Billie J. (wife of Douglas) Rockwell of Greencastle, PA, Tammy S. (wife of Richard C.) Strayer of McConnellsburg, PA and son Jay L. (husband of Laura) Wentling of Chambersburg, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, Robert, and Elmer Keefer and three sisters, Alice K. Carbaugh, Maye Carbaugh and Ruth Rhodes
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 12:00 PM on Monday, June 30th, 2014 with Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held before the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
Interment at Union Cemetery McConnellsburg, PA.
