Porter Johnson died at the home of his son, J. H. Johnson, of Battery Court, yesterday, aged seventy-two years. He was a well-known Confederate veteran, and participated in the battle of Gettysburg and other engagements. He is survived by three sons and four daughters, J. B. Johnson, of Newport News; Leake Johnson of Clarksburg, W. Va; L. H. Johnson of Richmond; Mrs. C. C. Beal of Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. W. M. Wilt of Baltimore; Mrs. Vincent Costello, of Wheeling, W. Va, and Mrs. T. J. Moorland, of Norfolk.
