George was past quartermaster for VFW Post No. 7211 of Tyler and a life member of The American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy during both the Korean War and WWll. He was a disabled Veteran.

* sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Stegall and Mrs. Marguerite Brown (Tyler)
* step-father, Homer Claymore (Tyler)
* step-brothers, Charles Claymore (Longview), Paul Claymore (Beaumont)
