She was a member of the First Christian Church, Smith County Shrine Club Auxiliary and East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen. Her life was filled with giving to others and many years of ballroom dancing weekly, an avid reader, Mahjong and socializing with many friends. Constantly,she mailed greeting cards to family and friends on their special occasions. The gift of her three sons was the highlight of her life. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery. Marguerite was predeceased by her husbands, Howard Charles Spurgeon and Richard (Dick) L. Brown; her parents, Rosa Mae Allen Swinney and George Washington Swinney; all of her, siblings including George, Willie Mae, Marcus, and Norman; and stepson, Steve Brown.
