Irving George Chaplin, a Cedar Rapids resident for 15 years and a retired farmer, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 5:07 p.m. Monday following a long illness. Born Dec. 1, 1870, in Iowa, he had farmed in the Monticello and Ryan area for many years before coming to Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Fred W. Smith, 2618 Bever avenue SE, with whom he made his home; two sons, C.M. Chaplin of Glendale, Calif., and Milton Chaplin of Kansas City; two sisters, Jessie Bowen of Fremont, Neb., and Amy Slauson of Moline, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chaplin was a member of Calvary Baptist church.
Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 3:30 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Russell Ayres Pavy. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
