OBITUARY from Altoona Mirror March 1931 - ADAM FEES - Well known citizen of Carrolltown and father of Assistant District Attorney Fred J. Fees of Cambria county, was found dead in the basement of his home in Carrolltown yesterday morning at 8:15 o’clock, death following closely a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Fees was born in Scalp Level, a son of the late John and Mary Fees. He came to Carrolltown forty years ago. Mr. Fees and Miss Margaret Dumm were married in St. Nicholas’ Catholic church at Nicktown. Mr. Fees is survived by his widow, who is seriously ill at her home, and the following children: Attorney Fred J. Fees of Carrolltown; Harry Fees, Bakerton; Alvin Fees, Erie; Mrs. Martin Kirsch, Spangler; Dr. A. W. Fees, an intern at Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh and Evelyn, Mary, Margaret and Mildred Fees, at home. Adam Fees was a brother of Andrew Fees, Lilly; Mrs. Sue Miller, Tyrone; Mrs. Rose Pringle; Miss Sophia Fees and Mrs. Thomas Zehnder, all of Johnstown and Joseph Fees, Pittsburgh. Ten grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o’clock Friday morning in St. Benedict’s Catholic church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
