Agatino "Aggie" Licata, 75, who worked as a stationary engineer, maintenance supervisor and market owner, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 2003) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Lockport and attended schools there.

In 1952, Licata moved to Niagara Falls, where he and the former Beatrice Adriatico were married.

From 1950 until 1962, Licata owned and operated Licata's Market in Lockport. He later worked for 20 years as a stationary engineer and also as a supervisor in the maintenance department of Airco Speer Carbon.

During the 1980s and '90s, he worked in maintenance at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Licata was a member of the church and its St. Vincent DePaul Society.

He enjoyed working with wood and reading.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, survivors include two sons, Samuel and John, both of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Diana Kachurek of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Pasquale "Pat" of Lockport and Francis of Gasport; a sister, Marie Hadley of Lockport; and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, following prayers at 9 at M.J. Colucci and Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
