LAST RITES HELD FOR WM. A. FORD

Funeral services for William Alfred Ford, who died May 17, at Kanab of heart trouble were held Thursday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at the Kanab ward chapel. 0.C. Bowman officiated and the parts given were:
Song, "Come ye Disconsolate." ward choir.
Prayer, Julius S. Dalley.
Song, "Tho Deepening Trials," ward choir.
First speaker, Edward T. Lamb of Mt. Carmel.
Vocal solo, "Lead Kindly Light," Orma Shields
Second speaker, Israel H. Heaton.
Duet, Matie Tietjen and Belle Rust.
Third speaker, President Heber J. Meeks.
Song, "Resting Now From Toil and Sorrow," ward choir.
Benediction, Z.K. Judd.
Interment was at the Kanab cemetery.
Joseph S. Johnson dedicated the grave.

All the speakers praised the deceased for commendable traits of character. In the cow camps, where he spent the greater part of his life, he was loved for his jovial, good natured ways and as a peacemaker. He was fair in all his dealings and appreciative for any favor shown him. Mr. Ford had a strong desire to do right which was illustrated in the remarks of his friend, Edward T. Lamb. He was helpful and charitable to his friends in trouble, to those who needed a kind word. He was also a kind father whose children loved him dearly.

William Alfred Ford was born at Washington, Washington county, April 22, 1870. He was the son of pioneers Edwin and Emily Sandall Ford. In early life he learned to ride the range and for years rode for the Bar X (Bar Z). He loved life in the great outdoors and knew cattle and the cattle business thoroughly.

During his early life he married Diantha Lorena Averett and to them were born seven children. His wife died and later he married again, this time to Florence Button. By this second union eight children were born. Although several of his children have preceded him to the Great Beyond, ten sons and two daughters who together with his wife survive him.

Ivan, Lynn and Max Ford who were on the range at the time of their father's death, came to Kanab to attend the funeral services. His son, Eugene Ford, who was at Cedar City also came to the funeral.
