Mrs. Fitzgerald was a rural mail carrier out of the Clarks Hill post office for 42 years. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, the American Legion Post at Colfax, and the Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army infantry.
Surviving with his widow are nine sons, Vincent of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Max, Richard, Timothy, Patrick, Donald, Robert, Larry, all of Lafayette, and Steven of Muncie; two brothers, Frank of Frankfort and Leo of Bakersfield, CA, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Sheetz of Lebanon.
