Chesapeake - Chesapeake - Cecelia Jacqueline "Jackie" Haynes, 81, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mamie Atkins, born in Roanoke, VA on September 9, 1930. She grew up in Portsmouth, VA and graduated from Cradock High School. She married Grady Haynes in 1951 and spent the next 49 years with him.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grady; a daughter, Sharon Quick; her parents; her sisters, Edna Shipmaker, Barbara Crawford and Ann Camarillo; and her brothers, Charles Atkins Jr., Reginald Atkins and Ronald Atkins.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Charles) White of GA, Danny (Audrey) Haynes of NC and Jennifer Killmon, with whom she lived; 9 grandchildren, Johnny, Charlie, Justin, Caleb, April, Jeremiah, Angela, Tracey and Alex; 16 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Christine Stafford, Norma Jean Gay and Audrey Stubbs.

Jackie spent her life taking care of others and witnessing to them about our Lord and Savior. She was a devout Christian, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent her last years assisting in caring for her great-grandchildren. She often shared her room and recliner with them as they loved to sit with her while she sang and shared stories of the good old days.

Jackie was well cared for over the years by wonderful family & friends, Margaret, Amanda & Ashley Morgan, Charlotte Jones, Debbie Beaver, Lisa & Katie Satterfield, Pauline Correll, Shirley Wood and MediHome Health & Hospice.

A funeral service will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. A private burial in Mill Springs, NC will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 - 8:30 P.M. The family will receive visitors after the service at Jennifer's house.
