Frederick M. Truitt was born in 1876, Chillicothe, Illinois, the son of David and Margaret Caroline (Goodrich) Truitt. Frederick enlisted, serving as a Private in the United States Spanish American War, Company E, 30th Regiment, Illinois Cavalier & E 30th U.S. Volunteer Infantry. We, his family, proudly salute Frederick M. Truitt as a War Hero for there is no greater honor than to lay down one's life for another.

Note: from U.S. Military and Naval Records, it lists that Fred sacrificed his life in Tayabas, Philippine Islands, Military and Naval Forces. Originally buried P.I., and received on Grant December 31, 1900 and shipped to his father, David Truitt, of Chillicothe, Illinois, where he was respectfully laid to rest alongside his beloved Truitt family. It has always been important within my direct Truitt lineage, to pay the utmost respect to our relatives. I grew up, with this engrained in me, to pay tribute by visiting the graves of our loved ones, gone before us, and to pray as a family over, and decorate the graves with flowers and American flags, paying great tribute to those, like Fred, who gave his life, so that we might enjoy the many freedoms, lest we never forget. I honor you, my Cousin, and pay tribute to you with the utmost respect.
