Taberg March 17 Benjamin Ballard, aged 77 years, died at his home, three miles north of Taberg, on the state road, at 12:30 pm yesterday, after an illness of eight weeks. Death was due to infirmities of age. Mr Ballard was born in Orwell, Oswego County. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted, serving in Co. I. 81st Regiment. At the close of the war he came to Taberg and purchased the farm on which he has since resided. He was an active member of Ballard Post, No. 551, G.A.R. He was married to Miss Jennie Agan who died five years ago. Surviving are one son Edgar Ballard and a sister Mrs Martha Coffee, both of this place. The funeral will be held from his late home at one o'clock and from the M.E. Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Internment will take place in Maple Hill Cemetary."
