REVOLUTIONARY WAR
Continental Line 2nd Penna Regt.
1777 - 1783

He was either 16 or 17 at time of enlistment and was probably under instruction of a school that was in place to help ready them for the field. He was made Squire soon after the close of the war. Some time was spent in Chester Co., but he eventually removed to Fayette Co., PA.

On a personal note, I am sure there was some debate about serving in the war, as Quakers did not condone war.

He was also a cabinet maker.

Son of Simon & Rebecca Mercer Johnson. He was initially believed to be born in Chester Co., PA ( per SAR records), but I have attached Quaker records for his birth in New Castle, Delaware. His parents were part of the Wilmington MM.
Dates for birth may coincide with the Quaker calendar.

He is one of six children:
Ruth Johnson 4-28-1759
Robert Johnson 9-8-1761
DANIEL JOHNSON
Caleb Johnson 4-6-1768
Rebekah Johnson 5-18-1773
Simon Johnson 4-8-1776

His first wife is Sarah and the second wife is attached below. He had at least one child with his first wife Sarah, REBECCA JOHNSON MILLER, linked below as well.

- Special thanks to Kathy Crownover for her help.
