BOXFORD- Mr. Harold Addison White 85, of Boxford, beloved husband of Marjorie Flint (Alley) White, died Monday, June 9th, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Addison Newton and Bessie (Earle) White. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1946. While in High School, Harold excelled at Track & Field and was an accomplished member of the varsity team. He continued his education with Deforest Training in 1948, Industrial Electronics Institute in 1956 and he took classes at Merrimack College. He completed the Technical Training Program, SAED in Jet Orientation completing the program in 1958. An outstanding athlete, Harold was an accomplished swimmer and member of the YMCA Swim Team and the Boys Swim Team at Classical. Mr. White was also a swim instructor for the YMCA of Lynn and at Camp Rotary in Boxford where he met the love of his life teaching one summer.

An honorably discharged veteran, Harold served his country as a member of the United States National Guard, 26th Infantry Division for over 21 years.

Harold had been employed for many years at the General Electric Company at its River Works Plant in Lynn. He was employed for over 40 years as an Analyst retiring in 1983.

A longtime resident of the Town of Boxford, Harold volunteered at the Boxford Senior Center and was a long time active member of the Second Congregational Church in Boxford where he served for many years as a Deacon. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the GE and an over 25 year member of the GE Bowling team. He was a member of the board of directors of the Totem Pole Park in Freedom, N.H. He loved the out of doors, camping, fishing and his boat. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Harold is survived by his daughter, Carolyn White of Laconia, N.H. and his son, Arthur White and his fiancé Joyce Newman of Peabody, his grandsons, Thomas White of North Andover and Timothy White of Haverhill, his nephews Bradley Wentworth and Kimball Wentworth. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Viola Wentworth.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Friday, June 13th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Harold's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
