Claude Willard Duncan Sr., age 86, died Nov. 14, 2003 caused by self-inflicted gunshot wound. There was an incident just prior to his death with his son-in-law, Marvel "Joe" Flom, who resided with Claude along with Betty Flom (wife/daughter respectfully.) For reasons not verbalized to anyone a murder/suicide took place when Claude took the life of Joe then turned a gun on himself.

Claude was born April 4, 1917 in Huntsville, Tenn., to Marion and Eldora Sexton Duncan. Married Clara Renda Byrge, Oct. 17, 1938 in Huntsville, Scott County, Tennessee. She passed away on March 31, 1998.

He served in the U.S. Army. Claude will be remembered from the lumber mills in Tennessee to the coal mines and junk yards in Utah.

Survived by three sons and four daughters, George E. (Thelma) Duncan, Price; David R. (Bonnie) Duncan, Paonia, Colo.; Lillian L. Duncan, Rose L. Hayworth, both of Wellington; Clara J. (Conrad) Willbanks, Price; Betty R. Flom, Wellington; Claude "Buddy" (Debby) Duncan Jr., Nathrop, Colo.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Claude was preceded in death by parents; four infant daughters; sons, Willard Mark and William Ray; brothers, William and Floyd Duncan; and sister, Mary Jane.

Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 20, 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery. Suggested edit: His daughter, Rose Lee Hayworth, passed away in her sleep on July 18, 2009. She was 59 years old; DOB: 11/13/1949.
