John C. Kelly was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Fort Calhoun to Michael and Mabel (Raymond) Kelly.
He attended the Garryowen and Creighton Prep Schools.
On May 21, 1941, he married Marie Prochnow in Omaha.
He farmed his entire life in rural Washington County near Ft. Calhoun and raised registered Angus cattle. He retired from farming in 1992.
Mr. Kelly also sold real estate for many years.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He served on the rural Fire Board, was a past 4-H leader and had served as treasurer of the Garryowen School Board.
John C. Kelly, 86, of rural Washington County, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Crowell Home in Blair.
Left with memories are his wife, Marie; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Don Tripp of Omaha; two nephews, Steve and John Prochnow; three granddaughters, Anne and husband, Ron Kaslon, and Deb Tripp and Katie Tripp; two great-grandsons, Ben and Matthew Kaslon; three sisters, Martha Gill of Reno, Ne., Kathleen Tenborg and Anita Peters, both of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Burial was in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.
