Joanne Barrett Pittman, 80, of Jackson died Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday Nov. 29, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Jackson with visitation from 9:00am till service time. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Greenwood, Mississippi, she was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Greenwood Leflore School of Nursing. Mrs. Pittman served as a surgical nurse in hospitals in Jackson and Greenwood, Mississippi and Petersburg, Virginia.

She was a sustaining member of the Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood. Mrs. Pittman was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson where she was active in the Chapel Bible Class. She also served for many years as wedding coordinator for the church and was an officer with the Women's Missionary Union.She was a longtime member of the Tuesday Art Group in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Barrett of Greenwood and her son Bobby Wayne Pittman, Jr. of Hattiesburg.

Survivors include her husband Bob Pittman, Sr. of Jackson; a daughter, Dianne Pittman Holbert and her husband, John, of Madison; a brother Robert Barrett and wife, Claire, of Natchez; a sister Beverly B. Williams of Ridgeland; three granddaughters Joanna Holbert and Sydney Margaret Holbert both of Flowood and Elizabeth Holbert of Natchitoches, Louisiana; a grandson Bob Pittman, III and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Bobby Wayne Pittman, Jr. Memorial Scholarship at Mississippi College in Clinton.
