Earl J. Dahmen, age 85, of Mapleview, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home.

Earl was born January 1, 1929 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Joseph and Olive (Wilkerson) Dahmen. They moved to Austin in 1933. He married LaVonne Skauge in Austin. The couple moved to Mapleview in 1950. Earl worked in construction.
He enjoyed cooking, boxing, going to flea markets and auctions, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Larry Dahmen, Austin; daughter, Sherry Dahmen, Austin; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Clennon, Bowling Green, KY; sister-in-law, Ardis Newman, Austin; brother-in-law, Norman Skauge, Austin; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne in 2011; daughter, Darla Tara in 2013; two sisters, Martha Lee Klimek and Sandra Carlson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Mayer Funeral Home with Lieutenant Laura Amick officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Thursday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
