She was born in Axton on April 11, 1921, to Salem Stone and Mary Hairston Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hobson.
She was a member of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church, where she was in the senior choir, Hamilin Worker Ministry, a Missionary and on the usher board.
She worked as a sales associate at J.C. Penney for 25 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Marvina Edwards of Grand Prairie, Texas; one son, Johannes Hobson of Roanoke; a sister, Hazel Rainey of Marlboro, Md.; one brother, Donald Stone of Martinsville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
