Mildred M. Edmonds, 87, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 5:59 p.m., Monday, June 2, 2014 peacefully, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Mildred was born in Jefferson City, Kansas on October 29, 1926, the daughter of Wava (Lindley) and Theodore William Philo.

Mildred attended and graduated from the McLouth High School, McLouth, Kansas in 1944.

Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson, Kansas where she sang in the choir and served her church in many capacities through the years.

Mildred was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. In 1973 she began working for Chuck Butterfield at Butterfield Construction Company as the office manager.

Mildred enjoyed bowling and was the treasurer of the league, loved to sew and made the children's and grandchildren's clothing through the years, and she took great pride in her home and being a mom. She was strong in her faith and she passed this on to her children.

Mildred M. Philo was united in marriage to Maurice L. Edmonds on July 2, 1947 at Topeka, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Topeka. Through the years they lived in DeSoto, and Wichita, Kansas and San Francisco, California until 1973 when they moved to McPherson.


Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dennis M. Feeney; her precious daughter, Sheryl Linn Edmonds; one brother Denzel Philo; and one sister Eleanor Slifer.
