Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Dee Barker, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014. He was born in Logan, Utah on December 30, 1933 to Albert William and Edith Rosetta Marsh Barker.
Dee married the love of his life Donna Valine Aardema on May 13, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dee and Donna were blessed with one daughter and seven sons. Dee had a great love for his wife and they were able to spend 60 wonderful years together.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving and served in many positions including Bishop of the Ogden 42nd Ward. Dee and Donna served together in the Inner City Ogden Mission, the Hong Kong Temple Mission, and the Nova Scotia Temple Mission.
Dee loved his family and was a family oriented man. He always wanted those he loved to succeed in life. His family was his greatest treasure. Dee enjoyed sports activities most of all golf and working in his yard.
Dee is survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Deborah (Curtis) Keller, Michael, John (Jeanine), Douglas (Jill), Steve (Becky), Scott (Sayonara), and Brent (DeAnn); 31 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and sister, Delta Spendlove.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel; granddaughter, Lindsey Barker; great-granddaughter, LilyAnn Keller; six brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
