Boon Christy was born in Missouri, the son of William McFarland Christy and Margaret Rivers Christy. This family moved from Clay County, Indiana, to Missouri, sometime after 1840, and came to Texas soon after Boon was born in 1847. They settled in Hunt County, Texas, later that same year. Boon grew up here and married Sarah (Suda) Fitzgerald in Hunt County. By 1880, the Boon Christy family was living in San Saba County, Texas, and there were eight children born to the family; William Jack, Margaret Emeline (Emma), John D., Samuel Thomas (Sam), David (Dave), Daniel Boone (Dan), Lela and Nancy (Nannie) Christy.
Suda Christy died in 1899, and Boon Christy was married after that to Martha E. (Mattie) Fouts. There were no children born to this union. He died in 1934 and was buried near his first wife in China Creek Cemetery. His second wife is also buried near him.
