Robert J. Morris, 87, of 47799 Lexington Ridge Road, Summerfield, Ohio died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at his home.


He was born near Calais, Ohio on November 9, 1920 a son of the late Jerome and Mabel Carpenter Morris.


He was a retired welder for Central Ohio Coal Company with 31 years of service; was a 60 year member of the Summerfield Church of Christ where he served as a former Deacon. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II. and a member of the American Legion Post 415, Summerfield, Ohio.


He loved to cross stitch, pick up cans, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Martin and Maxine Shroyer.


Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Carpenter Morris whom he married on August 10, 1946; two daughters: Rita (Russell) Hodges of Huntington, West Virginia and Reva Bailey and friend Richard Burns of Huntington, West Virginia; three sisters: Martha Stephens of Caldwell, Ohio, Grace Hannahs of Quaker City, Ohio and Janet (Roger) Christman of Baltimore, Ohio; two brothers: McKinley (Norma) Morris of Summerfield, Ohio and Racey (Ann) Morris of Hilliard, Ohio; three grandchildren: Reona (Matthew) McGee, Ryan Hodges and Roman Hodges; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Tim and Sandra Moore of Summerfield, Ohio.


Friends will be received at the Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, 202 Main Street, Summerfield, Ohio from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007.


Friends then received at the Summerfield Church of Christ, Summerfield, Ohio from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 with Frank Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, Ohio with full military graveside services.
