Mrs. Charles H. Rudd, 609 N. Madison Street, received word today of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Emma Lewis, widow of William E. Lewis, who passed away early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. F. VanWyck, in Southold, LI, after a long illness.

Mrs. Lewis was born at Hillside, in the town of Western, March 11, 1855, daughter of the late Squire and Harriet McDaniels. Most of her younger life was spent in Lee. For practically all of her married life she resided in Rome, with the exception of two years spent in Westmoreland. Upon the death of her husband in Westmoreland in 1908, she came back to this city where she continuously lived until two years ago when she went to reside with her daughter in Southold.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rome and was a kind-hearted and charitable woman with many friends.

Surviving besides the daughter at whose home she died are four sons, Deville Lewis, Port Angeles, Wash., Howard, Oneida, Eldred, Laurel,LI and Oliver I. Lewis, Chicago. She also leaves one brother, W. W. McDaniels of Utica. The remains will be brought to this city arriving Sunday morning and will be taken to the home of Mrs. Rudd.
