Marjorie Jo McKoy Calahan, 82, was born May 1, 1932, and went to sing with the Angels on Memorial Day, May 26, 2014.

Margie was born in OKC to Robert Brown McKoy and Thelma J. Scrivner McKoy.

She graduated from Old Central High School and briefly attended OBU, where she majored in voice and minored in piano.

She met Gene Calahan, a Putnam City boy, at Falls Creek Church Camp. After Gene enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, Margie went to California, and they married during his 10-day boot leave. They had three children, Pam, Mike, and Tim.

After the kids reached school age, Margie became a beautician and continued to hone her skills for `'gift for gab" and joke telling, as well as making OKC women more beautiful. Her smile and laughter were infectious, and it didn't take her long to have the whole room, any room, laughing hysterically with her.

Her eternally positive spirit, optimistic attitude and sweet smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She loved to shop, travel, sing, dance, laugh, laugh and laugh some more and just have fun, but, most of all, she loved her family, her dogs and her Lord Jesus Christ.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; and her husband, Gene.

She survived by her devoted companion, Melvin McCarthy, of Harrah; daughter & son-in-law, Pam & Melven James, of OKC; son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Joyce Calahan, of OKC; son, Tim Calahan, of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Margie also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the the Bill Merritt Funeral Service Chapel, followed by interment at Rose Hill Burial Park, OKC.
